Job Summary:
As the Head Chef at Couqley JLT, you will be responsible for managing and leading the kitchen team, ensuring that all food items are prepared and cooked to the highest quality, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. You will also be responsible for managing the inventory, ordering supplies, and developing new menus in consultation with the restaurant manager.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire kitchen operation, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Develop menus in consultation with the restaurant manager, taking into account seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and budgetary constraints
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure that they are following all standard operating procedures and meeting quality standards
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain appropriate levels of stock
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working condition, and coordinate with maintenance staff as necessary
- Ensure that all food preparation and storage areas are clean and hygienic at all times
- Monitor food costs and work with the restaurant manager to develop cost-saving strategies
- Ensure that all food items are presented attractively and are consistent with the restaurant's brand
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment
- In-depth knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, as well as health and safety regulations
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- The ability to develop new and creative menus that meet customer preferences and budgetary constraints
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, customers, and vendors
- A degree or diploma in culinary arts is preferred, but not required.
